The Southwestern Athletic Conference announced on Wednesday the 2015 All-SWAC Volleyball Teams with Ashundria McNeal of Alabama A&M, Jenna Siddiqui of Jackson State, Diamond Williams of Southern as well as Kori Kutsch of Alabama State and Kalee Maricle of Alcorn State claiming postseason individual honors. Accolades were voted on by the league’s coaches and sports information directors.

McNeal was tabbed Player of the Year while Siddiqui collected the top setter honors. Williams won her second-straight Libero of the Year award as Kutsch earned newcomer accolades and Maricle was named Freshman of the Year.

McNeal, leading the East #3 seed Alabama A&M, is tops the conference with 546 total kills to average 4.51 kills-per-set. McNeal also leads the SWAC with 629.5 total points. The Memphis, Tenn., native is among the nation’s leaders in NCAA Division I volleyball, as she posted the third most total kills with 36 in a five-set match against Jackson State on October 30. She is also third in points and total kills, seventh in total attacks (1,385), 10th in points-per-set (5.20), 15th in kills-per-set, as well as 38th in attacks-per-set (11.45).

Siddiqui, a senior setter for the 2015 SWAC Eastern Division Champion Jackson State, ranks second in the SWAC with 7.18 assists-per-set this season, sending out 783 total assists in 109 total sets. The Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., native also tallied 104 kills, 161 digs, 36 blocks (5 solo, 31 block assists) and 29 aces this season for the Tigers. Against Jacksonville State on September 16, Siddiqui dished out a conference-high 56 assists in the five-set match.

Jackson State led with five members on the All-SWAC Teams, as Siddiqui also tallied First Team Setter honors. Taija Thomas is a first team outside hitter, while Alexsis Ford was selected to the second team. Mikayla Rolle was named to the second team as a middle blocker and Tyler Moorer was a second team defensive specialist honoree.

Williams, a junior from Fort Worth, Texas, played in all of Southern’s 99 sets of play during the regular season, collecting a SWAC-leading 463 total digs to help the Jaguars average 14.07 digs-per-set to pace the league. Williams also tallied 32 assists and 24 service aces for Southern this season. She collected a conference high 36 digs in a September 15 five set contest against Southeastern Louisiana. Among the NCAA Division I teams, Williams ranks 67th in digs-per-set and 89th in total digs.

Kutsch, a standout from Torrance, Calif., is sixth in the conference averaging 5.09 assists-per-set in a two-setter Alabama State offensive system that averages 10.04 assists-per-set. In a November 6 match up against Alabama A&M, Kutsch dished out a season-high 45 helpers in the five-set victory. Kutsch has also tallied 148 total digs, 20 service aces and 16 total blocks (3 solo, 13 block assists) this season for the Hornets.

Alabama State’s Myla Marshall collected All-SWAC First Team honors as a middle hitter while Chelsey Scott was named to the All-SWAC second team as an outside hitter. Senior libero Scout Wonsang was a second team defensive specialist selection as Kutch picked up second team honors as a setter.

Maricle led the Alcorn State offense with 229 total kills, for a 2.10 kills-per-set average, and the third-most in the SWAC 112 total blocks (46 solo, 66 block assists) in Centennial, Colo., native’s first season with the Braves. Maricle’s .264 (229 kills, 95 errors, 508 attempts) hitting percentage is in the top-five in the SWAC and her 3.05 points-per-set is fourth in the league. Maricle also posted 89 digs, 27 assists and 24 service aces this season.
