Will Bruin, Brad Davis and Leonel Miranda scored as the Houston Dynamo rolled to a 3-0 win over the LA Galaxy before a BBVA Compass Stadium-record crowd of 22,445 on Saturday.

The Dynamo (27 points, 21 games played) climb within five points of the Portland Timbers and Seattle Sounders (32 points, 22 games played each) for the final two playoff spots in the Western Conference.

Houston returns to Kansas to face Sporting Kansas City on Saturday, August 1 at Sporting Park. The Dynamo are back at home at 8 p.m. CT on Saturday, August 8 to host the San Jose Earthquakes.

With the gametime temperature near 90 degrees, the Dynamo started brightly and were rewarded with the opening goal in the ninth minute. Alex Lima collected a turnover and quickly fed Davis on the left flank, who used one touch to bend a low cross behind the defense, where Bruin settled the ball near the penalty spot for a left-footed finish and 1-0 lead.

Davis doubled the lead 18 minutes later, collecting a short pass from Nate Sturgis and smashing a low strike from 25 yards past the dive of goalkeeper Brian Rowe and inside the left post for his first goal of the year and 2-0 advantage.

Dynamo newcomer Rasheed Olabiyi led the break on the final goal. Making his home debut, the Dynamo midfielder led a counterattack and passed to Miranda on the right edge of the box. Miranda dribbled into a crowd and scooped a shot near the upper corner for his first regular-season goal.

Dynamo forward Erick “Cubo” Torres made his first home appearance with the Dynamo, entering for Bruin in the 69th minute for his first regular-season game with the club after a substitute appearance in the U.S. Open Cup on Tuesday.
